The Area: Hope Ranch of Santa Barbara:
Hope Ranch was once part of an original coastal Spanish Land Grant.  In the 1920’s and 1930’s it was developed into what is now approximately 1,863 acres with about 773 estate like homes nestled into a rural setting minutes from the services of Santa Barbara.  The residents enjoy a private beach access, tennis courts and miles of beautiful equestrian trails.  The private, members only, La Cumbre Country Club offers all residents views of the beautiful lake and greens of the golf course.

The Architect:  Joseph A. Plunket (1900 – 1946)
In the 1920’s and 1930’s a handful of renown architects put their stamp on the Santa Barbara design influence of red tiled roofed Spanish and Mediterranean style homes, creating what is now considered to be the iconic Santa Barbara design style. 

One of the premier architects of this early period was Joseph Plunkett who, in his brief career, designed notable buildings in Santa Barbara such as the Arlington Theater, the Santa Barbara Airport Terminal, along with a number of estate homes from Montecito and Santa Barbara to the Santa Ynez Valley.  He designed with a sense of interior flow and exterior romance.

The Property:
