Montecito

Casa Del Greco, designed by renowned architect George Washington Smith in l920, is an exceptional masterpiece of classic Spanish Andalusian architecture nestled in the heart of Montecito. Considered one of his greatest creations, Casa Del Greco, once Smith’s personal residence, remains an awe-inspiring treasure, skillfully restored to impeccable grandeur.

The main residence features 18-foot hand hewn beam ceilings, five fireplaces, antique carved Spanish window shutters and doors, wrought iron grilles and hand made tile floors. All kitchens and bathrooms have been updated with all amenities. Two climbing roses, possibly the largest in California, adorn the eaves and fresco of the exterior. Adding to the lush garden setting are picturesque mountain views, a vine-covered pergola, brick pathways with tile-paved rills, blue and white Spanish tile benches and courtyard fountains.

Living Room: 20x35
18-foot hand hewn wood beamed ceilings, handmade tile floors, long recessed bookshelves and inviting fireplace. The windows have deep reveals, dark wood shutters and blue tiled sills. Multiple sets of French doors access the brick tiled patio and gardens. The late Mrs. James Ward Thorne reproduced this room for the Chicago Art Institute.

Library: 18x20
The library is a handsome room two steps down from the living room. There are 18-foot ceilings, hand hewn wood ceilings, handmade tile floors and deep reveals on the windows with hand carved shutters and blue tiled sills. A row of French doors open out to the garden.

Guest Bedroom: 12x12
Located off the library, there is an exterior entrance for guests, wood floors in the bedroom, private tiled bath.

Dining Room: 14x20
Located on the left of the entrance just two steps up from the living room, this beautiful room has hand-carved ceiling detail, painted by the late Lutah Maria Riggs, FAIA, a corner fireplace, tile floors with ornamental inserts and two sets of French doors that open to the gardens and patio sitting area under a covered pergola.

Kitchen: 15x16
Completely remodeled with new cabinetry, appliances and fixtures. There are tile floors and two large glass doors that open to a private patio with built-in barbeque center.

Staff Quarters:
Off the kitchen wing of the home, this room has a separate entrance and private bath. The laundry room is also located on this wing of the home.

UPSTAIRS SUITES

Master Suite: 20x20
The bedroom has beamed paneled ceilings, corner fireplace, French doors to garden view terrace and balcony landing. Exterior access to front courtyard veranda with hallway to adjoining sitting room/bedroom suite. Spacious tiled bath with oversized tub and walk-in shower , large vanity.

Sitting Room

Adjoining the master suite via small hallway, there is also exterior access off the front courtyard veranda. This light and bright room with corner fireplace can serve as additional bedroom or sitting room for the master suite.

Guest House One:
A charming two bedroom, two bath guest house which is in keeping with the main residence. This cottage features French doors, hardwood and tile floors, fireplace, private sitting terrace and full kitchen. Separate entrance drive with ample parking is shared by both cottages.

A larger two bedroom, two bath guest house, which is also in keeping with the main residence. There are Terrazzo and wood floors, beam ceilings, French windows, kitchen, private patio and garden. Separate entrance drive with ample parking is shared by both cottages.
